Hey everyone.


I havent worked on computers in a while but my good friend needs 4 budget pc's built for his office.

I havent really researched whats been going on in the computer world the last 5 months or so. I need to build 4 Full PCs that will last this company a while. It will be used strictly for word processing, data entry, email, and internet with very few graphics intensive programs. Im looking to get parts for 400$ and under if possible.


So far Ive looked at this setup but its alittle over on my budget per pc. I want to make a little money for my building time. This is a fast MWAVE cart. See if you can help me get the price down including tax below 400.00$ Per PC

It is difficult to build a quality budget computer for the same prices as major computer manufacturers.

Given that he needs these computers to last several years and be as inexpensive as possible and have LEGIT copies of all software, I would suggest he go to Dell or HP/Compaq and get what is on sale this week. The quality of the components will be better (for the money) and he will have a warrenty to ensure that they will work for years to come.

but that is just me...

Uh, I don't see a keyboard, monitor, mouse, XP (as stated) or even a hard drive. You will not hit that price point and make any money. Not even close. Your best bet is to send him to Dell/Compaq/HP or even BestBuy for an Emachine and plan on making no money except for setting them up for him or something. Even then, the whole "last this company awhile" part can be hard to do at $400. No matter how cheap you do parts, the cost of XP Pro and a monitor will always put you over the top. And don't even tell me you are going to do Home at a business. It will always bite you in the end when they decide to get their first server, etc. Here's a base model at BestBuy, but it still has no monitor: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...30922&productCategoryId=cat01172&type=product. They are much better then they were when they first went into business. If you can squeeze a bit more budget-wise, you'd be surprised at how much better hardware you can get for only small jumps in price. For about $600 you can get a pretty decent office machine. I'd go Dell, HP or emachine. You will get a good reliable machine with support.
 
Check out Dell/HP/gateway/emachines. You are not going to be able to build a complete PC for under $400.


Dell has a basic Dimension 2400 for $349 without Monitor.
