I cannot seem to run stable past 3.2 ghz on a Q6600 G0+evga 680i+2gb ddr2-1066

at 3.3 it is not entirely stable when gaming, as it has crashed a couple times

cpu and chipset voltage are both 1.4V and the ram is 2.1V at 5-5-5-15 2T (manu. specified timings)

i am currently at 3.21 (9X356) but cant get it to load windows faster than 3.3 (9X366). any suggestions?

Im jealous cuz my mobo wont boot atr or above 300FSB no matter what CPU or multiplier you have it at, I have the same MOBO as you, What Bios r u using?

Raise the voltages more and see if it becomes more stable?

I have already raised the voltages to 1.4+ for cpu and 1.5 for fsb but it didnt help getting past 3.3

What temps are you getting?

i am getting 38C idle temps and 50C load (average across 4 cores)

i am using the P31 bios, i think that is the most updated one.

But that kinda makes me wonder if my mobo is the limiting factor here...

i dont quite understand the different ratios that i see other people talking about (1:1,2:3 etc), would someone explain that to me and is that something that might be able to help me push my oc further?

unfortunately man, it's probably your motherboard. I say this because I had the exact same setup as you until my 680i died. I wanted very badly to get to 3.6 but it was absolutely impossible until I raised my voltage so much that I couldn't run prime for more than a few minutes without temps exceeding 80-85. I now have a maximus formula, and my q6600 is running rock-solid stable at 3.6 with a vcore of 1.36 (i do have the g0 edition however). My temps never get above 65 degrees.

The ratios you are referring to are FSB to memory ratios

example

2:3 FSB to mem could correspond to 200:300 or 800:1200 for DDR1200

and the CPU speed is just FSB x multiplier

It was once recommended to run syncronously, but now I don't really think it matters all that much

ok, with some advice from a new lab partner, i changed a few things, and now i need help with stability.

i changed fsb up to 1600, multiplier at 9 and ram frequency to 400 also. so now i am booting at 3.6ghz and 1:1 fsb->ram ratio. i can boot into windows but it isnt prime95 stable. my cpu is set at 1.4V, ram at 2.15V and everything else set at auto in bios, but i believe the bios was reporting the nb voltage at 1.4. any suggestions or advice? thanks
