need help BADLY

the loading opperating system message, black screen and just white text?
 
i'm running the mem test now. if the ram clears, would the culprit be either the cpu or mobo?
 
i think i'll try re-seating everything if this ram clears. Google research has led me to believe that this may work.
 
i doubt htats the issues, as the intsall was fine.

that screen is part of the bios, not windows

it seems windows cant find the boot sector on the HD

did you check the boot order to make sure the HD is in thr rght spot?
 
that second link apears to be an email, i cant read that...lol

i dont think memory is an issue

its a boot issue

try hitting f5 when that sceen comes up and see if you get a boot menu.
 
okay so i exchanged the mobo. still same thing. It's not a mobo issue i suppose. i'll try that boot menu thing.
 
i am booting correctly from the right drive. I tihnk there may be something wrong with my hard drive.

edit: im reformatting my computer again to see if it brings me into the os. When i went to format theres a 100mb system reserve. I assume thats for the boot settings and such. Is there a way that i can see if the system reserve is working properly?

perhap you accidentially installed it with UEFI and GPT?

if thats the case, you would need to make sure the UEFI is in the boot order, the default is usually MBR.

if you cram the drive in a opperating machine, and do a myconpuer/manage/disk manager it would tell you the parition type.
 
ok well heres what me and my friend thinks is the problem. I think my hd has an old boot record from my old pc in the system reserve partition. What you do you think if i completely wiped the hd and do a fresh install? I'm almost certain i'll get another system reserve file with the os on it.

that would certainly be my suggestion as well ay this point.

This however would be implying there is a EUFI/GPT issue, as normally it shoulnt cause an issue,

Dont forget however, a clean Win7 64 will default to GPT, not MBR on install if the bios is set to use it

you also might be able to clear up thi issue by running a boot repair from the win7 install CD.
 
I definitely misread that. Oops. I was just freaking out in my own little world. You guys are the best. I'll see how far this takes me haha. My first build might be a success, despite the freaking out.

its not the video, as he sees the bios fine...hes solved it however..

i booted from the cd into the windows installer. I deleted all partitions. Installed the new os and it created a new system reserve (which i assume contains all the boot records). I basically did what mhenley mentioned. The issue i believe, was that the mobo tried to boot from the old system reserve, which was from my old computer. Sorry, i'm terrible at describing things, especially with computer terminology.
