My desktop (in sig) has been reseting randomly and getting video artifacts. Its been doing this for a few days, it sometimes keeps reseting before it starts loading an OS, or getting video artifacts in BIOS/POST or once the OS loads. I think i might be the vid card but its only a few months old after I RMA'd it. I tried goign into the BIOS and underclocking everything I could and unpluging uneccasry stuff adn see if it was a PSU problem but still it didn't seem to help. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

the seemingly obvious conclusion would be that you have a bad video card - but may not be the case -
try these things -
cmos clear
check to make sure the card is well seated -
reinstall video drivers (corrupted? virus check too)
reinstall direct x
take off the side of the case - see if stability returns (heat issue?)
make sure all power connects are properly seated.
If you have an additional system ( or a good friend's) that can be used as a known good test bed - try the card in it see if it acts the same (bad card...)
If it does not then it could be the motherboard, power supply
If you have an additional power supply that can handle the load - try that see if it is the issue
Best of luck

Tried CMOS cleared, Cards been reseated a few times, drivers, don't think they would courrupt after a few minutes, I have one virus I know about I havn't gooten rid off, the sides have been off the case but I am down to 2 working case fans both blowing right on the CPU, all power reconnected and I slimed down the extras, I don't have a PSU I could use, I might be able to use someones system. Thanks

If the artifacts are happening in the bios screen then I would probably put it down to a hardware problem.
Can you get your hands on a PCI vidio card.
If so try that.
No artifacts could well mean your AGP slot is dieing if your own vidio card tests ok in another system.

Another thing I would do is disconect all your hard drives and then run Memtest86 off either a floppy or a bootable CD.
As Memtest is self booting no OS drivers are needed so again artifacts will tend to prove it a hardware problem.

Luck.......... :D

Is it possable that its the PSU, would a AGP problem cause a reset? The Asus monitor was seeing alot of varations in voltage, and would it have been able to mess up my last card with similar articfacting.
