Well I just moved to my new house and i relized this house is wired with cat5e in every room. So i go to school and the comcast people CUT OFF all of the rj 12 off.

When we called them they said they had to make room for an AMP for the tv which is BS becasue this house was fully wired and now its not : (. but now on to my question.

Ok if I get them to comeout and put the rj 12 plugs back on can i just get a 24 port hub and go

Internet-------modem------Firewall-----hub-----cabels

And beable to use the cat5 plugs in the rooms. Sorry for making you read my horible english i have not slept in a few days jetlag x10000

Did they cut the RJ-45? The phone lines would be irrelevant for your cable internet and Cat5 runs to each room.

What you'd probably want, is to have a router..to take your single cable internet connection..and share it, as well as protect with a firewall. On the LAN side of the router, you plug in your Cat5..uplink to a switch if you have a lot of Cat5 drops.

Yeah, if they cut ANYTHING in your house without your express permission, they're obligated to come out and fix it. I'd make them do it out of principle.

I don't know why your RJ12 would be an issue for networking. It's RJ45 you want, as has been said.

Are all the cables run to one central point where you can put a switch? You'll need a phone or cable line for you internet connection there for your modem, then plug your router into that. Link your switch and your router and plug in your cables. In short...yes, sound like you've got it right.

I'm working on wiring my house right now. I moved all my coax lines because they were the easiest move so that a single feed can be amplified and split out and I have easy access. Next I'll be moving the phone lines into the same room and putting in a phone block to make adjust phone lines easier (planning ahead now that I'm a parent) and bring DSL into the same room.

The fun part will be installing power on the top shelf in this room (for switches and severs) and then running Cat5e throughout the house for both phone and network. At least I'll be able to do it without anything being down, so I can take my time :)

If you can post pictures that would give us a great idea of what your talking about.

They are not allowed to cut ANYTHING unless if it's related to the service that you've ordered.

sorry it is rj 45 my camera is packed up somewere and we never told them to vut anything they did so they can make room for there amp for our cable. All of the wiring in the house starts there so i am going to order a switch and make them put to rj 45 on the wires
