6800le vs 6600gt.

Should i take the 6800le in hopes of modding it into a 6800.ALSO DO NOT TELL ME ABOUT JUST FLOPPING A 6800NU.If you can find me on for 160 please show me otherwise I couldn't care less.Now I plan on water cooling it after a week or two after i get it running.To lazy to do it right now.
Which one should i get and how long do you think it will last.I have a 5900xt that i use right now and im happy with it but my bro needs a card and im gonna just give him this for free.
 
The LE I believe is an OEM cards. And because of this, they will not submit them for benchmarks on the Internet.

Though the 6800LE has more memory bandwidth and an extra VS unit over the 6600GT, it's fillrate is terrible in comparison. Meaning that if you can't unlock pipes on a 6800LE (and odds are you can't), you will be stuck with a much, much slower card than the 6600GT.

The 6600GT is the best bet.

Also, while not 160, here is an eVGA 6800nu for $189, which is even faster than the 6600GT and possibly unlockable

the the 6600gt is a pretty good card-- but it is hot and the fans are rackety-- the attachments for the heatsink and fan leave much to be desired-

i have had the 6600gt's 6800gt's and x800xl's and x800pro's--if you can find a good price on the x800 pro or xt----consider it--as far as i can tell as good as the 6800gt's for less $$.

if you get a nvidia--get one with the longest warrenty you can find 3 years at least

i got a dead pny6800gt sitting on my desk--it like died like two weeks out of its one year warrenty. :eek:
 
Pny has been a piece of shit lately.I will never in my life time buy a PNY product.
 
this PNY 6800GT

it ran fine untill it's factory warrenty expired--then the screen statred turning blue-- so it half-works.

PNY must have installed some kind of "doomsday-device" for this thing to have it's demise timed so perfect--

i'll never buy a PNY again--thats for sure. PNY is such a flake--they can't even tell you where the serial # is on the thing--LOL DODGY! :eek:
