Need help/advice on AMD/Intel cooling/cases.

Hello fellow [H]ard members.

I need some advice. I am an intel person trying to switch to AMD and am having some cooling issues. Here is my story.

I had a P4 2.2 northwood. One day a co-worker offers to sell me a Athlon XP 2500+ (barton) and an Asus A7N8X Deluxe. So I figure I will pick it up and possibly OC it to 3200+ speeds.

So I get it and install it etc... at stock speeds it runs at about 50 c and under a load at about 64 c. The HSF is a CoolerMaster Aero 7 (Squirrel cage thing.)

OC to 3200 speeds it got up to 72 c after a half hour of Battlefield 2! :eek:

So of course I am trying everything I can to cool it down. The HSF I have is a CoolerMaster Aero 7 and my case is a mid antec with only one exhaust fan in the back.

My remaining budget for this is about $60 so how would you cool it down better with that price range?

A few options I have thought about:
  • New HSF (Recomendations please)
  • More fans for existing case. (Only have space for one intake, one exhaust)
  • New full size case with 2 intake and 2 exhaust fans.
  • Anything else you think may help.
  • Or maybe I can pull off a new case and HSF if I sell some stuff. LOL
