I just purchased a ViewSonic VP2770 based on NCX's advice.

I am having a few issues calibrating the monitor using my Xrite Display Pro.

I used the following settings in Xrite:

Monitor type: WLED
Brightness: 160
Contrast: Native
Gamma: 2.2
Color Temp: 6500K

The issue I am having is using the Xrite ICC profile the monitor is crushing blacks. On the Lagom test (http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php) I can not make out the black squares until box 5. Using the default profile settings and monitor settings however I can clearly make out ALL black boxes.

I can't figure out why the profiles Xrite generates are crushing blacks. It does not matter if I profile the native, sRGB, or custom color settings the results are the same.

The other odd issue is when I calibrate the sRGB settings on the monitor it always changes to "custom color" when I apply the profile. For some reason I can't calibrate the sRGB setting.

I'm using Windows 8 so I'm wondering if maybe is not set correctly? Or more likely I am using the wrong settings in Xrite. If anyone has any suggestions or experience with the 2770 please chime in! I'd also like some advice on the best monitor settings to choose before I use Xrite (i.e. Native, sRGB, custom color, etc.z)

Thanks in advance for any/all help!
