Hi, I am currently getting ready to build my Dad a new computer and would like some hardware suggestions. The main thing he will be using this computer for is AutoCAD and other programs of that sort. Max amount of money he wants to spend is $700-800. This will be my first Intel based system I’ve built so that’s my main reason for hardware suggestions. I know I am going to put in a 2.6ghz P4 processor but I don’t know what motherboard I should get to go with it? Suggestions on a nice Intel based motherboard would be appreciated. For ram I was thinking a gig of Corsair PC3200 Value Select memory (512x2). Suggestions on ram would be appreciated as well. And as for a video card I was thinking about going with the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro or would it be worth the extra money to get the XT? As for everything else I know what I am going to get. So suggestions on a good Intel motherboard, some nice ram, and a nice video card would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Ge the 6600GT for a resonable value card because those Quadro cards cost more than an arm and a leg.
The Corsair RAM that you got there is fine (1Gig)
The P4 is fine for speed but try to get the best that you can afford.

Any reason why you are getting a 2.6 P4?

Is it a prescott or a northwood, as the 2.8s and 3.0s are the best bang for buck right now IMO.

As for motherboard a nice Intel chipset based on the 865 chipset is the way to go.

I would suggest an IS7 from Abit, but I am partial to Abit. :)
