I know its a bit late in the game with the next generation right around the corner... But it would be nice to see a comparison of the GTX 960 vs GTX 1060 at the same clocks, to really see what gains are had from Maxwell to Pascal.

I know some comparisons were made between the 1080 and 980ti that showed minimum to no gains, but those cards are pretty different ultimately. The 960 and 1060 share the same core config.

It would be interesting to compare these gains to the gains seen by AMD from the 380x to the 470. It may be insightful on progress going into the next generation.

There is no improvement per clock as for as the actual cores go and that applies to all the Pascal cards. The 1060 Ti has 50% larger bus and 50% more ROPs so comparing it at the "same clocks" will not be a fair comparison anyway.

You can easily look at the 950 and 1050 Ti though since they are almost identical in specs. The 1050 Ti has about 35% higher real world in game boost than the 950 and its right at 40% faster overall. That other 5% difference would be from the 1050 Ti having 4 GB instead of 2 GB and that memory is also clocked 6% higher.

Right, Maxwell was the big boost in shader efficiency, l2 optimizations and memory compression.

Pascal is just a die shrink with higher clocks and improved memory compression

Send me a 1060 and I'll compare it with my 960 4GB FTW card.

They should both have 1280:80:48 Core:TMU:ROP.. but yes the 950 and 1050ti are the same too, at 768:48:32

Benchmarks with the same clocks on either would be interesting.

(Edit: Im wrong, its the OEM 960 that has 1280:80:48, the retail has less. The 950 vs 1050ti would be interesting in an even-clock comparison)
