NEED front usb port help

yesterday I ran into some problems with my front usb ports. Here is my problem. I live in detroit Michigan and it was really windy here and after about 2 power surges i just left my main computer off (the one I am having the front usb port problems) later on that day I booted it up everything seemed fine. I was downloading some crappy games from downloads.com and I got one called ping! the sequal to pong.

I went install it and next thing i know my system goes to reboot but it like hangs... so i manually rebooted it and it hung at the welcome screen..make a long story short I tried last know config along with safe mode..still couldnt get into the comp. SO I reformated the whole thing got all my win updates/driver/etc that i can think of and i go to plug in my thumb drive and it doesnt pop it saying device detect.

This morning i opened the case and where the usb cables plug in IT DOES NOT look fried or anything and the cables look good also. Furthermore I do believe my game control (its usb) was detect so my back usb's work. I was going to run up to compusa today and buy 2 new usb cables but now i am not sure if that is possible because of the way the piece is (2 cables run into a little plastic piece which is screwed into the front of case) does anyone have any ideas or know if they sell those possible.
