I have a Silverstone TJ07 and if you are framiliar with this case then you know that it was two 120mm fans below in the hard drive chamber, two at the top exhausting, and two 80mm intakes blowing right over the CPU.

The problem is no side vent for the video card. I want to get some fresh cool air over the videocard.

I have plenty of open front drive bays. My question is, what is the best solution to put a fan in the front drive bay. Silverstone has a drive bay converter with an LCD fan, but is it suitable for just a front intake if I don't intend to use it as a drive bay?

Also, does anyone have any experience with the Scythe Kama bay? Are there alternatives to the Kama Bay?
 
dont know much about the kama bay but the silverstone converter looks as if it was made for a 120m fan to go in it since there are fan holes and the front allows air to come in..

No there is a 120mm fan in it, but is the thing just good to cool hard drives that go in the bay, or can it be used to blow air to the back of the case over the videocard?
 
yea it can be used either way i mean come on think if your not putting hdd's in it then where the fan gonna blow air? .. ding! inside the case it goes :) problem solved :)

also id consider getting a pci blower as well

Uhhh, yeah I know the air goes in the case, but I'm not sure is the intended purpose and I don't know how good the airflow is.

replace the fan with a silentx fan low noise but super high airflow look on newegg you'll see them though they cost a pretty penny :p

I have the Scythe Kama mounted in my TJ07 for precisely the same reason. It's nearly perfect, although the fan that comes with it is pretty weak... but can be replaced by any standard 120MM fan. The Kama is a great way to add a front fan and really looks like it came standard with the case.

Ive got the Scyth Karma Bay in my Lian Li. It can be mounted as an intake, exhaust, or fan can be mounted horizontal within bracket to blow/circulate air on HD. I use as a front intake. Only downside I found was the fan mounting brackets are set-back from face, so basically theres a 1/4 inch gap around fan. I removed the fan & cut and adhered a foam gasket, then remounted the fan to the cage before installation, as to maintain a case-pressure and control dust.
 
I took out all of the drive bays below my CD rom, actually took the two 120mm fans from the hard drive area and secured them to the front of the case using some of those plastic wire organizers (attached inside the drive bay area). I put a dust screen over it so that it didn't look ghetto. I'm thinking about getting different fans but I'm unsure of what the best noise/cfm 120mm fans would be. Seems to work well though.
 
I had a 120mm fan right on my video cards and the temperature difference wasn't much. I can get a 7c+ drop if I just take the side of the case off so maybe drilling the side and adding some fans would be best for video card cooling (this case does rather suck, no pun intended, guess it doesn't suck... for video card cooling) Too bad the coolmaster stacker looks like something defecated out the ass of a Transformer. I actually prefer the quality of Coolermaster cases to these silverstone cases. They're just more intuitively built and things sit more flush. Better designed from a physical aspect though the aesthetics have been really poor since the praetorian cases. I get about a 4c-5c difference with the front fans though, maybe some higher CFM fans would increase that.
 
no its like a whole pci card but the fans are moveable i think cant remember i used to have one too.
 
I've had both the Karma and the Silverstone adapter in my TJ07 but replaced the fan in both with something beefier (I don't mind fan noise). I was using the Karma when I left the rest of the fans stock including the direction of airflow. But I was never really happy with the mobo, CPU and GPU temps compared to a similar system in a Stacker so I replaced it with a black/blue Stacker that was selling for a killer price. I ended up building another system and slapped it in the TJ07 with the Silverstone adapter. I also reversed the airflow of the 92mm fans and replaced the 120mm drives up top. I think the reversal of the 92mm fans improved things more than anything else but having the Silverstone or Karma blowing at the GPU has got to be a good thing. I don't think you could go wrong with either.
 
I have two first gen STC-T01s. One just silver and black and the black/blue. Decked out with the crossflow and an extra 4n1 module. Beasts but I like 'em. The TJ07 sits not far from 'em happily whirring away.

Some other thoughts about the Karma vs the Silverstone drive adapter.

The Karma included a dust filter but I ended up taking it out. Mine had a loose feel and would hit the fan blade when I'd periodically shoot compressed air at it. The other part that If you're finicky about fit, it also left some gaps around the edges between the drive bays above and below. It was minor but visible.

The Silverstone drive adapter has no dust filter and has that honkin' aluminum plate in front of the fan grill. Makes it a little tougher blowing out the dust from time to time. No visible gaps that I can see between the drive bay above and below.
 
Those karma's look nice. Would 2 of them sit flush on the front of the case? Looks as though the fans would need to be replaced though. Can anyone suggest a couple of high CFM fans that aren't much louder that the stock TJ07 fans? Would probably look a hell of a lot better than the big black mesh dust pad I have now sitting in front now.
