i have a chance to use (2) evga 7900 gto in SLI although i dont know if there will be a difference vs. one. I have a 22' samsung lcd that runs at a 1680x1050 and will be playing games like "Prey", Fear and such. If i turn all the setting to high will one card suffice or will 2 do it better. Any help would be welcomed.

At that resolution no you don't need it. One 7900GTO is fine imo...unless your getting the second card for dirt cheap/free, its not worth it. I'm playing at 1680x1050 with a 7900GT stock clocks and I can play with all the eye candy turned up no problem.

The only other reason to go SLI at that res is if you absolutely have to have 8xSAA and 16xAF....

i have one and was just thinking of getting another but if its just money i can place elsewhere then its better updating something else. thanks

im in the same boat.. i just ordered one.. but then since its limited quantity in canada.. i wanted to buy another while its still here. but then i realized the mininum for SLI according to the EVGA site is 550W.. i have an enermax liberty 500W.. is it really necessary for me to change PSUs in order to go SLI? or will it be enough power to support the 2 cards and a lil OC?

im thinking of getting a 22inch Acer/Samsung LCD after i get these 2 cards.. so is my PSU enough? and will SLI with these cards be killer and beat 1 GTX?

Minimum of a 450 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 22 Amp Amps.)
Minimum 550 Watt for SLI mode system.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 34 Amp Amps.

ENERMAX Liberty ELT500AWT +3.3V@28A, +5V@30A, +12V1@22A, +12V2@22A, -12V@0.6A, +5VSB@3A

I have the same PSU and thinking the same question since I just bought one 7900 GTO....... can/do you just add +12V1 and +12V2 = 44amps ?

Above 1280x1024 is where SLI starts to shine.
Some games will give you substantially higher framrates, others allow you to max the quality settings with low performance impact.

You should know already if you arent happy with your gaming res/quality.

I don’t really know if I am happy with this as I just got my rig back together. I was playing Medal Of Honor: Pacific Assault and when you reach the airstrip there is a lot going on and the frames kind of like freeze or really slow down. Is this a video card thing or a cpu, hard drive kind of problem
