i saw this question Recently and i find it to be a good question, can anyone answer this?

Talking about buying a New Gen Card (6800 ultra/X800X) type card..
"Considering the 4x AGP bus (266MHz) hasn't even been saturated yet to even begin to bring 8x AGP into play, how do you figure an Athlon XP 2300+ is going to be a bottleneck?"

I think you're a bit confused here, just because you don't have a bottle neck one place, doesn't mean you can't have one in another place. While playing a game the agp bus is rarely used except for the initial loading(unless of course you are out of texture memory). Meanwhile the cpu is constantly in use for A.I. and Physics. If the GPU has to wait for the cpu computes A.I. you are going to get slow down. The GPU can't render a million frames ahead because the action would be out of sync so to speak.

Ditto, most new games are more tasking on the cpu then the gpu, which is a nice change from the norm.
