My first watercooling setup and I want to do it right

I just finished building the following system and would like some help with a watercooling solution.

I will be overclocking my cpu to about 3.9Ghz if not at least 3.6Ghz. I would like to keep my temps as low as possible and any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I'll say what I always say:

- Dtek Fuzion CPU block.
- EK 8800GT FC block (if you're cooling the GPU too).
- MCP655 pump.
- Swiftech MCR320 double radiator. If cooling the GPU, get a triple radiator, or a triple + another single!
- Masterkleer 7/16" tubing, 10ft of it.
- 3x Yate loon 120mm 1200rpm fans.

A fillport/Tline or Reservoir of your choice (Swiftech MCres is my choice).

Get everything with 1/2" barbs, and shop at Jab-Tech :)

All good suggestions.

Fuzion with or without nozzles = excellent.

MCP655 = enough power to add additional blocks.

Swiftech radiators 2 or 3 x 120 = The best cooling currently available with the least amount of air flow.

Yate Loom fans = best for radiator mounting, but with a good Swiftech rad you can go with quieter fans, look for fluid dynamic bearings.

I use a T-line instead of reservoir, always found it much easier to work with, especially since I tend to lay my case on it's side to work on it and reservoir's don't work very well on their sides.

I use 1/2" id tubing, slight increase in flow rate over 7/16" (most people say negligible) and only slightly tougher to work with.

Do your research, the most expensive part of watercooling is buying the replacement parts you did not research.

DD is a good seller, I would also suggest Petra's. I have worked with them for a couple years and had nothing but good experiences.

On the note of quieter fans, no need to spend a ton more to get different fans than the Yates. They undervolt extremely well so the sound issue is easily fixed if need be.

With laying your computer on it's side, you should be turning it off when you work on it anyway so as long as you have the resevoir cap on you have nothing to worry about.

I've done the following
Swiftech Apogee GT (I'm cheap and this was $30 less than a Fuzion block and hard mounting kit)
Swiftech MCW30 Chipset block
2x120 Swiftech Rad (get a larger rad if you want a GPU in the loop.)
The MicroRes
D5 pump courtesty of swiftech variable speed control is probably worth the extra $10 bucks
High flow barbs
Clearflex 1/2" ID 3/4" OD tubing. Possibly not as easy to work with as 7/16" but it's plenty sturdy
If you have any major bends, I'd recommend coolsleeves for your tubing.
I took one of my barbs to an automotive store and found metal clamps that were of proper size rather than using plastic clips.

I'm running my X3210 @ 3.4 at full load 24/7 and getting temps around 46C. It's definitely nice to have the NB under water as well.

Careful planning of where you place components and tubing will make your life much easier. You may end up using a Dremel too as I will eventually be doing on my P180B.

I would like more suggestions on the following:

Radiator. Some say 1, some say 2-3. How many do I really need? (Remember, I want to fit this in my case nice and neat)

1 Radiator that I know fit in my case:

Danger Den Black Ice GT Stealth 240 X-Flow



Pump. I want to make sure that the pump can handle the CPU, GPU's (if they really need it), and Chipsets for the 780i.

Swiftech MCP655



Reservoir:

EK-RES150 Rev.2 Multi-Option Reservoir

Swiftech MCRES-MICRO Hi-Flo Reservoir



Chipsets for 780i - any suggestions?



Also, I know that this is my first watercooling system... is this overkill? Any and all help is appreciated.

For an 8800GT + Q6600 system, you will be dumping at least 300w of heat into your loop, requiring you to purchase at least 1 triple radiator of your choice.

If you plan on overclocking, this heat requirement might rise to about 425w (assuming you get a decent overclock on the CPU+both GPUs) therefore requiring at least another single 120mm radiator, or if you can fit it, a double radiator.

Ideally, for your loop, I wouldn't run with any fewer than 4 120mm radiator slots (that can be made in any combination, 3+1, 2+2, 1+1+1+1 etc.)

DONT purchase the GT stealth radiators, they suck. Get the swiftech MCR series or the HWLabs BIP series.

Also, either reservoir you chose is fine, get the one you like the look of most.

great choices though I prefer Thermochill Pa 120.2 or 120.3 for rad and DDC3.2 with petra top for pump.
the blocks can be the Eddie blocks but also MCW60+G80 adaptor+ram/chipsinks do a great job too.

My wallet prefers the Swiftech rads any day over Thermochill. I would try mounting 1 rad around the top mesh and then possibly another 1x120 in the back or a an additional 2x120 around the 5.25 drive bays. I don't know how much modding would be required as I've never used a TJ09 case.
 
You can look at my computer in sig.

I have the following: Swiftech Apogee GTX (little more money, but I liked the look), one 8800GTX DangerDen waterblock, Swiftech MicroRes, Swiftech Dual Rad with 120mm YateLoon medium speed fans, Swiftech 350 pump ( I went for small size and virtually no noise, and it pumps a boatload of water) all with 3/8" cheeeeep FrozenCpu tubing.

So, my Q6600 is at 3.1 GHz essentially because that is all the board will give me, and my WC 8800 GTX is running at a 600Hz clock.......temps at load during Crysis.....CPU 40C and GPU at 52C............

My point, lesser can be good, too. If you plan on WC the chipsets, you may need more radiator than me. I like 3/8 inch tubing.....some people like 1/2 inch......its all in what you like. I have a CoolerMaster case and could have mounted the Rad in the top of the case, but chose to use a RadBox instead, seemed easier to me.
