I'm looking for soundcard and speakers, here is the significant information.

Budget 200-400$ for soundcard and speakers

Primarily will be used for music, but sometimes movies. I play games a lot but I really don't care how well games sound, most of the time I mute the game sounds and listen to music instead. I listen to just about every type of music from bluegrass to rock to techno. My room is fairly small (think dorm room sized), so I think a 2.1 or 3.1 system would work best.

Currently I am running some cheap Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers off of an ASUS A7N8X-X motherboard.

I generally dont listen to music all that loud so volume isn't a huge issue.

Lemme know if you need any other info to reccomend a good product for me.
 
I'd look at a 2 speaker setup by Swan, you can find them at the Egg. They produce very nice sound quality, much better than the other junk you'll get online. For a sound card, the Chaintech AV710 [I think that's the model] is very popular here, and costs only 25$. Otherwise, the M-Audio Revolution is another good card in the 100$ range. If you really want to spend some cash, the Emu 1212M for 200$ is excellent.
 
or you could just get the PM ultra 5.1's (or gigaworks) and a Audigy ZS
