need diagnosing cd-drive prob

ok, I have the drive in my sig, and from one burn to the next, I started getting power calibration errors. At first I thought it wasn't getting enough power, but I have a 480 watt psu and only one optical drive. I chose another molex and connected it to the drive. same error. next I thought the ide cable might have gone bad. I got another and swapped it out. same error. then I tried another ide channel. same error. then I thought it was the drive. I swapped out the drive and put in my old burner. same error. no idea what it could be. last possible candidate could be that my mobo has a couple of faulty ide channels or is the burner shot? I don't no Idea, any advice would be appreciated.
 
To me, it sounds like a power supply problem. If you can get your hands on a multimeter you should start checking the voltage coming down to those Molex connectors. Most computer repair shops can also test your PSU for any irregularities so that may be an option to consider as well.

If your PSU tests ok, then I would start looking at the mobo but there is no sense in trying to troubleshoot the mobo just yet. Power consumption and distribution is not usually the mobo's jurisdiction.

I am willing to bet that your PSU is crapping out. How old of a PSU is it?
