need cpu heatsync

I got an x58 classified with GT dominator memory and was wondering what cpu heatsync u guys recommend. The nh-d14 doesnt fit. I bought the A70 but not sure about it. I have the intel I7 970
 
What is making you unsure of the A70?

Most single tower heatsinks will more than likely fit your setup. Alternatively, there is the H50/H70 that don't interfere with memory heatsinks but will cost more.
 
I read the reviews of the A70 and they don't look too promising for overclocking. I don't mind spending money on the cooling solution I believe that if I invest in nice CPU & mobo that I should do the same for cooling. Any suggestions on something good for overclocking.

The H70 is on par with the top of the line air cooler (noctua nh-d14) and will be sufficient cooling for overclocking almost any chip within normal limits.
 
Thanks. I was reading about the h70 just now. I guess I will be looking into it a little more.
 
What's a good water cooling solution? Never had a water system only Coolit freezone. I liked that it was easy to install and no maintenance. Anything similar with good performance???
 
H70, H50, Coolit Eco, vantage. Basically only 2 companies build enclosed watercooling solutions and they decided to work together with new products coming mid March...
 
Ok I guess I will install the A70 for right now and upgrade to a better water cooling solution. I bought the A70 for $25 brand new from Bestbuy.
 
I get great temps from my A70. Too bad the bracket wasn't drilled right and I couldn't insert two of the four screws in it properly. You'll see they're kinda unnecessary for mounting stability anyway.
 
So u do recommend the A70?. How about over the H70? If money was no issue.
 
In my opinion the A70's mounting method doesn't live up to Corsair's quality standard. While I haven't used an H70 personally, if money wasn't a concern I'd have one in my chassis right now.

I'm guessing it probably depends on the socket. I installed this on my socket 775 work machine. Everything fit like it should. I even used the 4 black washer they included just to be on the safe side.

It's hard to describe, the holes don't effect mounting to the socket, but keeping the bracket aligned to the base. I'm talking about the threaded holes that the small screws go in. Also those small washers. Nowhere in the instructions are they mentioned! The small bracket screws and the pressure mounting thumbs screws aren't differentiated properly in the instuctions either!

Again, this is definitely not Corsair's typical level of quality. I'm getting good results from the cooler, but I wouldn't recommend it above other offerings at MSRP.
 
I think the closest you'll ever get is by having a motherboard that supports dual proc's, and have two of the same CPU. Even then you might not get as close as you want -- might have to vary thermal paste amount between each CPU and heatsink, or use different paste for one of them to try match up the absorbed heat on both heatsinks.
 
I don't have any issues with my H50 so i would say getting a H70 would follow suit. I recommend these if you want to try something different from air. It's not mind blowing temps but at idle i'm sitting at high 30s.
 
Thank u. I am now thinking of the rasa rs240 or rs360 kit. I couldn't fit the A70 because of my memory sticks. GT dominators. And the DH-14 isn't compatible with my Evga x58 classified. So the two air coolers don't work 1 doesn't work for the memory an the other one doesn't fit my motherboard.

So now for $100 H70 I opted to go for the rasa rs240 to mount inside my case. Or the rs360 to mount outside my case. I can't decide which one yet. I have the thermaltake armour
