well i am all set do start my build today and the local store i am buying from is out of the quad9550..sucks big time..anyway
They have..quad 9300
or.................core 2 duo E8600...what would you choose?

Photoshop mainly..light gaming.
 
Wait for them to get the Q9550 back in stock. The Q9300 has crippled cache and runs at a fairly low clock speed. Since you don't intend to overclock, you'd be better off with the faster Q9550.
