Need cooling mod ideas for LANBOY.

I haev a lanboy setup for a roomate that could use some small mods to improve the cooling. I had thought about using a drimel on the fan grille thats built into the case on the back side.. any other ideas?

bone stock super lanboy case. CPU is a 2500+ Barton @ 2.2ghz 1.75V. CPU temps idle in the low 60s which is why im curious on doing more cooling. These temps were in a crappy case that had 2-80mm fans. The lanboy shows up today and I wanted to get any cutting done before I go mounting anything. I was hoping to be able to cut the front and rear grilles out to allow better airflow. Im not to worried about dust as this is inside of a desk with a door that shuts on the front. Which explains why the temps are high also. The back of that desk area has been completely removed tho to allow it to breathe as much as possible. I know on most cases the factory grilles are very restrictive.
 
You can easily cut out the intake fan grill with some tin snips (or equivalent cutting tool, the metal is really thin and easy to cut), and if you're sure you won't be using many hard drives, you could take out the middle hd rails, leaving room for 2 regular spaces, plus the two 3 1/2" bays. Other than that, you could make a blowhole/side intake, but those are pretty excessive. An idle in the 60*C range indicates a really bad hsf and/or bad contact with the cpu. Take the hsf off, clean the old thermal crap off the Barton and the heatsink base, reapply AS5 properly, and make sure all the fans are working properly and are blowing the right directions.
 
I don't know how you'd be doing clearance-wise, but would a larger HSF like a thermalright or zalman be possible? They can knock a few degrees off your temps.
 
I did reapply the thermal paste last night and noticed it didnt look like it made a very good connection with the processor. I have a thermalright SI-97 with a medium panaflow it it blowing downward. I never had any instability problems with this setup so far.. just worried about long term damage at high temps.
 
I decided im going to remove the HD cage completely and shove the HD inside where the floppy mounts. Ill cut the factory front grille out only leaving the front plastic piece. This should allow much better flow.. I hope.
 
These mods worked well for cooling.. allowed much better airflow.. only thing I did different was use this cheap 10$ heatsink kit for hte hard drive that allowed me to mount it in the 5.25 bay and also has rubber pads to dampen the drive noise. I ended up with a 3-4C drop in cpu temp with this case over the last one.
