Here is the deal. I'm in the middle of a new build. My case is the Air 540. I have every piece except for the CPU cooler. Not sure what to get. I've been reading about those AiO setups like the H100i and its all horror stories. The CPU that I want to OC is the 4670K. I would like to get it stable at least to 4.2. I know the NH-D14 will fit but not sure if it can keep a Haswell chip cool enough. Am I over paranoid about these AiO systems? I went to the Corsair website to read the forums and it was not to encouraging. Huge HSF or AiO.

NH-D14 is arguably is at most only a couple degrees warmer than best air coolers. If it won't keep your system cool none of the AiO/CLC will be at most a couple degrees better.

yes you are a bit paranoid with the closed AiO water coolers kit.. i've tried a lot of them, different brands and models.. and after several months the only problem i had with one AiO WC kit. was with my first Corsair H100i and a broken pump however even with the pump broken i had not damage on my machine or overheated chip... if you wanna try with any AiO WC. try the Corsair H110 or NZXT Kraken X60. i've tested both. both are excelent and work better than my old SilverArrow SB-E.. i use h100i just for the cool look and i do not need more than a h100i cuz my chip its locked. but in a oven like a haswell chip i would go for sure with a H110 or Kraken X60. or if money its not a problem with custom loop..

Paranoid. The H100i will allow you to OC to 4.2Ghz. So will a cheap air cooler such as the CM 212 EVO.
