Hey guys,

I'm putting together the hardware for my build I am doing in November. Every week, I spend a day looking at cases and many of the ones suggested here are too tall.

I really would like a mid-size case less than 19" to fit in my desk cabinet. Don't worry, the cabinet is not enclosed and the door is already removed. Open in the front and back. My older processor 1.4 Thunderbird AMD managed to stay cool enough in the cabintet and we all know how hot that thing was.

What I'm looking for:
  • Air Cooling
  • Less than 19" Height
  • 120mm Rear Fan
  • No PSU required. Buying one separately.
  • Budget: $150
Anyway, please make some suggestions. All of the Cooler Master cases on Newegg are either at 19" or more which would be an extremely tight fit at 19".

Also wanted to note I want the ASUS P5Q Deluxe or P5Q Pro. Any suggestions on a heatsink for my future purchase of my Intel Q9550 when it drops in price would help even more with your case suggestion.

So far, I have come up with these three. Any suggestions are welcome.

Bummer, you put too much info in a post and you get no help but you put to few details and get lots of people asking for more details.

Oh well, I'm bumping this in hopes of a second chance at suggestions.

For shortness, the Lian-Li PC-A05 is well-spoken of at 15" tall. The tradeoff is its unconventional airflow of back to front. There's a huge thread about the A05 around here.

I built a PC for my mother and stepfather, and another for my father, in the Antec Solo. It's 17.5" tall and I was surprised by its quality. Elastic hard-drive mounts, side-panel deadening, it can be very quiet, too.

The Lian-Li PC-60 and -61 you've listed both have 80mm rear fans.

My SonataIII is a gorgeous case, but won't cool an OCed Quad. Just doesn't pull in enough air.

PC-A05 should be nice.

Not sure how tall it is but the A05 is shorter than the average mid tower.

A05B baby! :)

Cool, I didn't get the auto notification from this thread. Glad to see something to go by.

Down8, thanks for the info about the Sonata III. I am doing a Quad setup.

PC-A05, that thing can fit a huge heatsink? It's only 15 inches tall? Hmm

Edit: Reading that A05 thread right now. Very huge thread. You weren't kidding.

Other than that, wanted to say, I added Antec Solo and COOLER MASTER RC-690-KKN1 but that thing is just under 19" and leaves no room to slide it in the cabinet a-la scratching so it is at the bottom and unlikely to get a purchase from me. Too bad, I liked the look of it.
