Ok so my firends business, is in need of a new backup solution.
They currently backup to tape everyday, and he takes the tape home with him.
So at any given time he has 4 days worth of backup at his house.

Problem is the Tape is starting to become unreliable.
Backups failing at least once a week. I told him to get new tapes...No dice.
I grab a random tape and attempted a restore, it also fail.

So essentially they have no backup system right now.

A couple months ago we tried Mozy, logmein, etc. but the internet is slow and it said it was going to take 45 days to transfer.
I am thinking of doing hotswap HDD's.

This is a small business -6 employees.
They have around 200gb of Data.

What should I do for them?

Ninja Edit: This solution should be completely automated. No one at this business know shit about computers. At most the instructions I give them should be take xxxxx home with you.
I also need backup software for them.

for 200 gigs, sheesh, just set up a synctoy operation to a couple of cheap externals daily/hourly/whatever. I've also used flexraid to mirror data to other drives before, and that has the added benefit of parity.

as it stands now, I take a parity snapshot nightly with email confirmation, and a mirror a few important sections of data to an external every couple of weeks or so.

Sounds like you already proposed the proper solution.

It's up to him to take care of it.
