A Corsair AX650 should be more than sufficient to run my current rig:

MSI Big Bang Xpower
Intel i7-930 @ 3Ghz
6GB OCZ DDR3 PC3-16000
2x MSI GTX460 SLI
2x WD 80GB Raptors (RAID 1) - OS
1x WD 150GB Raptor - Apps
1x Corsair Force GT 120GB - Games
Corsair H50
Windows 7 Professional x64

I'm leaning towards a single card solution on the next 600 or 79xx series, but if I decide to go SLI/XF, would the AX650 be sufficient? I am also replacing the H50 cooler with an H100 and will proceed to overclock to 3.5/4Ghz range. Or do I need to go towards a AX750?

I assumed that if go towards a new SB/IB, the power draw would be less than what I'm running now, right?

Thanks in advance...

For your current setup, the AX650 should be ok. Yes going with a SB/IB setup will use less power. But if you're planning on going SLI or CFwith the newer gen cards, I'd recommend going for the AX750 just in case.

I thought newer cards would also draw less power than previous generation. i think the ax750 would be the sweet spot, 850 would be too much and the 650 would be too less. going to order the 750 tomorrow at amazon and the sleeves from corsair. Thx DB.

They do when compared to cards of the same performance class. However, if you choose to go with higher-performance GPUs, those might take more power than your GTX 460 cards.

I agree with bugginout, spend the couple extra bucks on the 750w and give yourself alittle bit of overhead. I do think the 650w will run your system, but It'll prolly be at 90%+ load when the system is at full bore.

I run my system at similar loads though, so I guess I shouldn't talk.

Definitely get the 750 for more overhead. I had the HX620 and thought that would be sufficient, it wasn't. Although video cards are starting to trend to saving power now which is quite nice compared to the past couple years.
