Hey guys - my SSD crapped out on me yesterday and I need my PC back up and running before the weekend. Looking to buy in the next day or two and I'm pretty out of the loop.

Can you recommend a good deal for a quality 240-256GB drive? What are some things to look for these days?

Is the M550 worth $10 more? Seems as though it's faster, but I don't know about the internals... NAND / reliability issues?

It's pretty much on par with the MX100. (256gb models compared) The main difference in performance is the 550 is a bit quicker on the writes than the MX100, but the MX100 is no slouch. You're not going to have a different user experience with either drive. I will note that the MX100 does use newer 16nm NAND, but both drives use MLC stuff so once again it's basically a stalemate.

Both drives support the same exact feature set, warranty, and endurance so you're not missing out if you pick one or the other. You can't really go wrong with either.

Well, sorry to say my original drive is still under warranty so I'm going to try that approach first. It's EOL and discontinued so the only option they have for me is repair, not replace, so we'll see what comes of it. Maybe in a week or two I'll still end up going with your recommendations.

Many thanks for the help though.

Ok, Originally I had a Kingston V+200 240GB drive. Kingston just replaced it with a 240GB V300 drive.

Anyone know how the V300 stacks up to the V+200? I found this article, but there's not much to back up the V+200: http://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compar...0GB-vs-Kingston-SSDNow-V-200-240GB/1817vs1445

jamsomito, the SSDNow V+200 is actually a SF-2281 controlled drive just like the V300, but with different (older) NAND. It's basically an Agility 3 performance-wise.
Because it's effectively an Agility 3, we can then compare an Agility 3 to a V300 using AT's bench tool to get some sense of the performance comparison. From the numbers, it definitely appears that a 240GB V300 *should* be quicker than a 240GB V+200.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

NP, if you're curious were i got my qualitative comparison between the V+200 and Agility 3 - here is a review on the V+200 with an Agility 3 in the mix. Both drives are neck and neck.
