Hey guys, I was tweaking my first build that I will most likely be using for video rendering and some gaming here is what I have so far:

i5 2500k
gigabyte z68-ud3
gtx 560 hawk
ax 750w
corsair h100
corsair 650D
samsung f3

So far i like it, but I managed to get an extra $100 for the build, and I'm not sure if I should invest that $100 dollars into a gtx 570 or an i7 processor. I'm thinking that if I get a gtx 570 then I would be able to go a longer time without upgrading my video card because I'm not an extreme gamer or anything. But at the same time i think that having an i7 might help with my rendering. So what do you guys think i should put that 100$ into?

Thanks.

Have you already purchased all these parts?

If not, and if you would like advice on the entire build, please fill out The Sticky so we can better assist you.

As you have't stated how much rendering you do or gaming that you do I can't really give you great advice there either. Usually I would suggest getting the GTX 570 (or Radeon 6970.) But there are situations where Hyper-Threading offers enough of a benefit to recommend it.

No I haven't bought any parts at all.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc..
30% gaming,30% browsing,40% video editing/rendering
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
$1300-1400 CAD with tax and shipping.
3) Where do you live?
Toronto, Ontario
4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. The word "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
Optical Drive
Hard Drive
Case
Cpu Cooler
CPU
Motherboard
Videocard
Power Supply
RAM

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
The only parts I will be reusing are my keyboard, mouse and monitor.
6) Will you be overclocking?
Yes, most likely to 4.2 - 4.7ghz
7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
22" 1080p
8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
I plan on ordering within a week.
9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? eSATA? Onboard video? etc.
I would like to halve USB 3.0, SLI for upgrading headroom, RAID because I plan to buy 2 SSD's 3-4 months later when I have more money saved up.
10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? Is it 32bit or 64bit?
I have a 64bit version of Windows 7
