I’m in the market for a new monitor and have a very limited understanding of what I am actually looking for. I’d like the monitor to be between 23 and 27 inches and will mainly be used for web browsing and playing games. Performance definitely means more to me than price but I’d like the price to match the performance as well. I have the following questions from what I have read in other areas of the forum:
1) Will playing on a larger screen (27 vs. 23/24) have any impact on the how good the monitor looks / performs?
2) Of course when everybody looks at an IMac the colors seem incredibly brilliant, does this have more to do with the type of panel or the glossy screen.
3) The two monitors that I have been most interested in are the Samsung PX2370 and the not yet released S27A750D. Are the new Samsung panels worth the wait?
4) Is there any truth to TN panels being better for games versus other panel types in terms of ghosting or other issues? (IE: If this is mainly for games and web browsing would TN be the better choice?)
5) Can anybody recommend some panels other than the Samsung’s I’ve listed that you think would be a good fit for me?
Side notes are that I’m not overly picky. I will not be doing graphic design or anything fancy that requires absolute perfection in terms of colors. I will be viewing my monitor from the same position on a regular basis so viewing angles are irreverent to me as long as the monitor looks good from straight on. I don't care about buttons that don't work well as long as they work good enough for me to make the original settings. However, things like ghosting, black light bleeding, etc. do bother me.
Video Card: ASUS EAH6970 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 Radeon HD 6970 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
I read a post earlier saying that their Radeon did not support 120hz. I just ordered this thing so I can return it for whatever reason if it doesn't support my needs. Any advice is overly appreciated as I have been out of the hardware game for quite some time.
