need AMD processor recomendation

Well I got the 960T dialed in, but I have it on DD water and was thinking I could get a bit more of an OC from her, it is POST stable up to 4.7 on this voltage and setup but bluescreens in windows :( any ideas?

4.7ghz is wayyyyyy too much on a Thuban. I'd be very very happy with a 4.2ghz, as my 955 only does 4.0ghz with 1.45~1.46v. With some NB/ram and clock multiplier tweakage I'm sure you can get even more out of it.

Have you stress tested it?

Have you tried unlocking it to 6 cores? If your BIOS has an ACC feature then turn it on and put your clocks/voltages back to stock and see if it boots with the 2 extra cores. If it doesn't then you can try cores 4 and 5 in the BIOS manually one at a time (which would be the fifth and sixth core).
 
prime95 stable for three hours, I have a sabertooth 990fx but when i turn on asus core unlocker and reboot it gives an error message that this cpu cant be unlocked. whats the max voltage for 24/7 operation? As configed in the image my idle temp is 36C and loads up to 46C.
 
Well, the ideal operating voltage depends on your temps, mobo and how long you want it to be alive for =P The Thubans/Denebs are notorious for requiring a lot of voltage for the upper end of their OC limits, an exponential amount of voltage actually. You can probably do 3.8-4.0ghz on 4 cores with just 1.4v. I'd keep it under 1.45v, but there should be little reason to turn C1E and CnQ off.

Have you tried unlocking individual cores? Cores 0,1,2,3 should be your 4 working cores and cores 4,5 should be the extra 2 you have a shot at unlocking. If you put it on Auto it'll try both 4 and 5, but it could be that one of them is bad and the other one is good so you may want to try booting up manually with core 4 then core 5. You may still have a 5 core Thuban :p

That said, a 4.2ghz OC on only 1.44v is very impressive considering the stock speed is 3.0ghz.
 
When I look at the Asus core unlocker in manual mode it shows core 1 core 2 core 3, thats it I feel like I may be missing something here? So 1.44V at the temps I listed are fine? I'm not interested in burning up my proc or mobo, but would like the best oc I can get from it.
 
I'd say 1.44v is plenty safe for everyday usage and 4.2ghz is plenty fast as well.

I haven't dealt with an ASUS UEFI BIOS yet, but I doubt they'd strip the feature. It's probably there just requires a little digging. You should most definitely be able to turn certain cores on and off. It shows core 1 2 and 3 because you can't turn off core 0

You might have something called ACC or Advanced clock calibration. That's something to look for. If not then maybe a core unlocker or whatever the hell they'd call it.

EDIT: remember to put the CPU back to its default clocks before firing up your 5th and 6th core. A slight voltage bump would be good too, like 1.4v or so. If it works then you can start having a bit of fun trying to OC a 6 core Thuban =P

You can't lock core 0

You can only lock it down to a single-core CPU, having access to all current active cores could allow you to lock them all accidentally, and that wouldn't be a good thing...
 
I'm sitting at 1.32V on CPU, 1.25V on CPU-NB, and a minor bump on NB and HT buses.

CPU: 3.78 Ghz, unlocked 6 cores
CPU-NB: 2780 MHz
HT: 2780 MHz
RAM: (16GB (4x4) DDR3-1600 Corsair, 7-8-7-20, 2T 1.65V): 1550 MHz, 7-8-7-20, 1T
Temps run 35c to 45c, CPU-z shows volts 1.30, drooping to 1.26

1.4 volts is too much. I use an Arctic 7 Pro2 cooler, and it is only decent. The issue I have going to 4.0 GHz+ is that it will be 4 cores only, have a lower NB and HT clock, and will get runaway heat under load, sometimes all the way up to 58c. I never had to push over 1.38V to hit 4 GHz on 4 cores, and wouldn't without a lot more cooling.

My setup can run aggressive NB, HT and memory timings, which seems to keep things smoother running, if not actually faster in peak performance. I can run Games, transfer files, and have various Firefox windows open without maxing processing power.

I found out while looking at this that Lord of The Rings War in the North does use at least 4 cores heavily. Seemingly 6. Possible due to DirectX11 running worker threads, from the Radeon 6950 GPU (unlocked to 6970 streams, but lower (810, 1300) core and mem clocks) driver.
