Need advice...

Well, is this worth upgrading? I mean, will I see a massive performance boost? I do game quite a bit, but i'm not much of an overclocker/modder, I also don't know much about computers - eg: I don't know how to build one (i'm only 13) Back to topic, is this worth upgrading?

Current specs:

AMD XP 2200+ 1.8ghz
256mb DDR Ram
GeForce4 MX 440 64mb with AGP8x
I don't know about my mobo, but i'm guessing it's not too good.
80gb HD (not S-ATA, so IDE??)


Upgraded specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 GHz Socket 939, 512KB cache, Retail
TwinMOS PC3200 DDR-DIMM 1024MB Dual Pack Kit w/two matched PC3200 DDR DIMMs
MSI GeForce 6600GT 128MB GDDR3 AGP, NX6600GT-VTD128, DVI/ViVo
Abit AV8-3rd Eye Mainboard for S939 KT800PRO,SATA,GbLAN,ATX,Dual-CH DDR
Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200GB IDE ATA/133 8MB cache 7200RPM

The AMD 64, Ram and Mobo are in an upgrade kit, the HD is not, will the HD fit in with the mobo? (sorry if it's a stupid obivous question, but I want to make sure.)

Total comes to £595 (£600 inc. P&P)

Yes, you will see a huge performance increase, and yes that harddrive will work with your motherboard. However, I'd look into getting a serial ata drive, they aren't much more expensive anymore.

Where are you seeing that upgrade kit out of interest?

To echo the replies of everyone else, this will be a VERY worthwhile upgrade. You should be able to play all the latest games including Doom3, HL2, Far Cry with lots of eye candy.
