I recently put a system together an ivy bridge 3570k on a gigabyte b75 board that I bought at microcenter. I also purchased a diamond 7850 and have been playing far cry three kicking ass on the ultra settings. Anyway for the last few days the system has not been posting or booting correctly. Sometimes it will beep three times then shut off and restart into windows. This morning it wouldn't start at all it would hang on the windows 8 splash screen with a few rows of garbled video on the top of the screen. I removed the video card and used the onboard graphics and it worked fine. Then I connected the card again and connected the other video card 6pin Power plug to the card. My antec 650 is rated for xfire and has two 8pin attachments. Now it works fine. I assume the card was either not seated correctly or the Psu is failing. The funny thing is last night I played three hours of far cry with no problems and this morning the computer is booting up all funny.

Some other info
16gb ram corsair vengeance
128gb 840 ssd
1tb sea gate barracuda
7850 diamond card clocked at 950 and 1300 memory speed
The CPU is not overclocked.

It's more than likely that the card is faulty. See if you can RMA or return/exchange the card.

I exchanged the card today and it appears to be working well. Nice thing is that I got a second set of games for free, that I have to unload now.
