im looking at building a new rig a little after xmas. what i want to know is does the SB platform support 6 dimms or is it just 4? reason i ask is i just want to max out the ram on my new system. i know the 1366 platform can support it but i dont hear alot of users overclocking them as much as i do with the SB platform. thanks

1155 (SB) is Dual Channel, while 2011 (SB-E) is Quad Channel.

As far as overclocking goes, you don't really rely on BLCK with Sandy Bridge as you did in previous generations. You will be using the multiplier (this assumes you are using an unlocked K series CPU). Unless, of course, you are trying to squeeze whatever you can out of your overclock. This allows everything to basically run at stock speeds besides your processor. Its much easier to keep your other components operating within their limits (ie: 1600 DDR3 operating at 1600 instead of 1700 or what have you).

As above, 1155: 4 Dimms typically
2011 will have either 4 or 8 on some MB.
