Okay so I'm just doing some testing here, I have a couple decent servers with 24GB of RAM each, dual quadcore xeon procs but only two 3.5" harddrive bays, of which each server has a 250GB RE3 WD drive which i'd be putting in raid 1 on each box.
I'm going to set these up in a hyper-V cluster so i can run multiple virtual machines, one of which is going to be a file server that needs about 4TB of storage...I just dont know where to stick these storage drives or how to cheaply add them to the network.
I want 4 of the samsung spinpoint F4 2TB drives somehow added to the server or network in a raid 10 configuration, this is just for home use so it doesnt need to be any business grade method, I just want a cheap solution, ...maybe some little box that can do raid 10 and plug in via usb to one of the servers? Some how setup a cheap linux run SAN? Idk....i'd like to get away with this as cheap as possible...which these servers had room for more HD's but they're only 1U units.
Ideas?
