Helllo, first post here, figured this was the place for the best info!

I've always been one to purchase a high end processor/mobo/GPU and not overclock it, but these days there are no upgrades worth purchasing! I have e6300, crap intel d775(forgive me if not correct) mobo, and 8800gtx gpu.

Im considering upgrading simply the mobo and getting a highly overclockable ram to up the speeds of my e6300. Looking to keep it air cooled. What recommendations can you all make for a good and inexpensive mobo/2GB ram kit to make my e6300 scream?

Thanks for any info you may have.

remember this is a core 2 duo, not quad, and i did mention cheap. Im sure there is a board out there for less than 150 that can max this chip.

For something cheap this is what I recommend:

Gigabyte DS3L P45 board 85$ AMIR (15$)
Xigmatek SD964 Heatsink 17$ AMIR (10$)
GSkill PI Black 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 800 50$ w/ free shipping

I think this combo will offer great performance. Also might as well get 4GB's because its so cheap and run Vista 64bit.

i like those items, i think ill go that way thanks!

By the way, do you recommend the clamp plate and the fan for than Xigmatek?

the new case i have only allows about 4-5" max, any low profile good cooling options? maybe just the stock intel?

sooo.... i just checked my core temp for first time EVER on my old setup. Mind you i have been running this for almost a year now....

64 degrees C at idle!!! something is definitely wrong? This system is not OC'd at all.
I tried core temp and HWmonitor both, giving me same results. the room is quite cool and im running at this temp yikes.

e6300 with stock intel cooling on it.
