so i found what could be a decent deal on a used laptop locally for school
ad is as follows
" FS Laptop in need of repair
Gateway laptop
1.6GHZ intel centrino
512 or something like that of Ram
60 gig hard drive
dvd\cd-r drive
It worked perfect then I got all these virus warnings and it shut down, went to turn it on but a black screen comes up and it says "media test failure" and "Operating system not found"
Taking the highest offer on it"
based on a little bit of reading the issue is most likely either windows is corrupt and just needs to be formatted and reinstalled, or some bios settings are messed up, or hd is dead and needs to be swapped out
i've built desktops without issue but never worked on a laptop but don't expect any major issues in such a case.
so here's the main question does anyone know any other possible causes of such an error and what would be a reasonable price for something like this (messaged about model number already and what not as well as what else comes with it so a ballpark will have to do)
