Right now in my dorm, I have my computer connected to my reciever via analog 6 channel. Well in my apartment next year, my reciever will be in the living room with my tv. So i was wondering how to get my sound from my pc in my bedroom to my reciever.

I have thought of just using 2 A/V transmitters, using the video jacks for audio as well.

Or, build a cheap HTPC and put my AV-710 in that, use onboard sound on my pc, and just network the two.

Or simply buy long enough RCA cables.

I know they make products for this purpose, but most are 2 channel solutions, and i like listening to my music in surround.

So what are my options?

I have a KLH R7000. Its 6.1. It has two optical, and 1 coaxial in terms of digital audio. Its a 6 channel input as well.
 
Get a Revo 7.1. Use the analog hookups. Circle Surrround II is a much better matrixing algorithm than Pro Logic.

I think you're missing the point of this topic, getting sound from one room to another.

I would think that using AV transmitters would cause bad quality, so that probably isn't the best choice.
I don't know if Airport Express supports 5.1 channel surround, but I believe it has a digital minijack. This solution would require iTunes, a wireless card and the express station though.
You can just get long enough cables, good quality so there's no power loss or distortion.

I was thinking the same thing about using A/V transmitters.

The Airport Express option seems alittle expensive, and my reciever sux at playing music in surround from a digital signal.

Something tells me I will just be ordering some long cables. :( I was hoping for a technological solution.
 
You could always buy a receiver with network capabilities. :D
