Hi guys , long time reader first time poster,my question is i am looking to upgrade mu CPU
and i have this PSU is and antec Phantom 500W and a antec case p180 gun metal black
i have bee out of the loop on new hardware and stuff but i have been doing some research
i have try to catch up , anyway
Any advice will be welcome, also should a i get a new case o the one i got could work,
for reference iam getting a ASUS P8Z68-V PRO LGA 1155 and i5 2500k

The P18x series are good cases, I would stick with that case unless you want either a smaller case or a case suitable for watercooling. Basic layout design hasn't changed much.

Not sure how good that power supply is. What's your graphics card?

iam planning in getting a ASUS ENGTX560 TI DCII TOP/2DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi), and thx for the reply

That is a really ancient PSU, ATX 2.0 :)
It's CWT inside and iirc a dual 18A raild design.. now, your intended build isn't a very demanding one power wise, and if your PSU is in good shape you shouldn't have any issues... still, if you can throw another 50$ to that build, go ahead and buy a new unit as this system would prolly last you a while longer than the Antec Phantom and sooner or later you'll still need to put some money in a new PSU, and it's safer to do it now ;)

thx and advance guys for the quick reply's i don't think my build is to demanding, either and o got a
21 inch dell wide screen monitor so not playing in to high crazy resolutions any suggestions on the psu
using only single 560ti video card

hey newegg got a COUGAR CMX 700 COUGAR-700CMX 700W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE for 99.99 and 25.00 MIR is this a good deal

XFX Core 450W @ 45$ after rebate, OEM Seasonic, 5 year warranty, excellent value for money.

FSP Aurum 500W @ 90$, 5 year warrany, solid unit with excellent efficiency(80 Plus Gold)

Antec TPN 550W @ 90$ after rebate, 5 year warranty, Seasonic S12D inside(excellent performer, not as efficient as the Aurum though), modular.

Nope, from Cougar you only buy high end units, GX/SX/SE series when they're heavily discounted, otherwise keep away, they're not worth the money they are asking..

Get the 550W Truepower New. The FSP Aurum is overpriced and non-modular. It may be efficient, but that's the only thing it has going for it.

Hey fellas is this a good psu for the price OCZ Fatal1ty 550W Modular Gaming Power Supply compatible with Intel Sandybridge Core i3 i5 i7 and AMD Phenom

It's shit, don't buy that..
Pick one of the above suggested units, you got all the bases covered, the XFX Core 450 is the cheapest good quality unit that would provide enough power for your rig, the Aurum is the highly efficient unit while the TPN is the best performer while being partially modular, and all of them have 5 year warranty.. you can't do better in that budget, pick one of those units..

ps. the best PSU inside 100$ listed on newegg is the PCP&C Silencer 760W, but is complete overkill for your rig and like most non modular units with high output, it has a shitload of cables that you won't use and will have to cram in the case..

Only get a new case if you don't like the design of your P180. Or if you're getting a motherboard that won't fit in the P180 (which is not the case here). The P180 design is by no means obsolete, it's still a good case with good airflow.

Yeah, the P180 is a nice case, i wouldn't change it but as Tsumi pointed it's also a question of taste :)

Regarding the Fatality 550W unit, if you check the 12v output you'll see it is actually a 450W unit ;)
And if you think the XFX Core 450W is too small and you'll feel more comfortable with something bigger, for 50$ you can get the XFX Core 550W which uses the exact same platform and is only 5$ more, but keep in mind that 450W is enough for your build..

thx for the response , iam goin for the Antec TPN 550W, one thing i wish is to be close to a microcenter, the got some sweet deals on the CPU and mobo i want, alot cheaper the newegg, lol

newegg got it on sale for $49.00 after MIR
It's a decent price and a decent PSU, but only if you really want to get something cheap. If you can spend more, get the Truepower New.
