Well I got $400 to spend and I'm thinking about getting a new monitor. Anyway, should I wait around or should I just buy now and if so what should I get (I've looked at the viewsonic, dell, and nec but really unsure of which I should get, or any other). Thanks

I would call up CDW and get the NEC 1970GX for $289.99 right now. Or the NEC 90GX2 is only $379.99 right now. Both are great monitors for just about anything but especially gaming and movies.

I'd recommend this:
http://us.acer.com/acereuro/page4.d...Param=US&LanguageISOCtxParam=en&crc=925325435

I have it and it's very nice. It has a glossy type screen so depending on the lighting in your room you might have a lot of issues with glares and reflections.

If that is the case then I would recommend this:
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopdisplays/lcddisplays/xseries/vx2025wm/

It uses the same panel but it has the anti-glare coating. Use www.pricegrabber.com to search for the best prices for either one. They are both within your budget at most places.

Or if you have the money, I would pick up this.

WHY? They have identical specs.........and mine cost less......

Edit: The only thing I see different is the one you listed has two 5W speakers and mine has two 1.5W speakers....but who uses those? Plus I think that big panel underneath the actual screen housing the speakers makes it look like poo IMO.

I believe it's using the same panel as the NEC LCD20WGX2.

If I'm wrong, disregard my comment. :)

Yeah, that's what I'm leaning towards.

i just picked up the Samsung 204b and so far i am liking it. No bleeding fast response and nice colors. Plus i really wanted a standard 1600x1200 i've had a few widescreen panels and i must say. for gaming they are the suck. for movies some are great.. for internet usage i kinda dislike them as they tend to cut off a bit of the vertical viewing area. To each his own i guess
