Hello!
I am a photographer in need of additional HD space. I currently have a 1TB WD EADS Green drive that is almost full and has given me no problems. I'm looking to add a 2TB drive and was looking for suggestions. I see that the Samsung F3 1TB has been suggested on this forum but didn't know if the Samsung F4 Ecogreen 2TB drive was just as reliable. I do have a newer MB with 6.0Gb/s capability although I don't think housing photos is going to make much difference. So I've narrowed it down to 2 drives:

Samsung Ecogreen F4 HD204UI 2TB ($119.00)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152245

or

WD Caviar Green WD20EARX 2TB (on sale $99.00)

Thanks!

I've been looking at big hard drives too recently. I ended up getting 2 of the 3 TB WD Caviar Green drives from Amazon for $150 each. But they haven't arrived yet so I can't give you any feedback. I was going to get the WD20EARX drive you mention but the best price I could find last week was $110 so I went with the 3 TB drives based on price.

I wouldn't get the Samsung drives as they aren't Samsung anymore, they are Seagate. And I have NO confidence in Seagate.

3TB for $150 is not bad. Before the hard drive market fiasco I bought 2 1.5TB's for around $75 from Amazon.

I snagged the HD204UI since it was on sale for $99.

I read a review that examined the drive and indicated nothing had been changed by seagate. We will probably see these drives phase out over time.

Pretty sure that is the same one that I grabbed this morning from Newegg for $99 with free shipping. Going into my new Monoprice external enclosure.

EDIT: Just checked, yup that's the one... $99 w/ free shipping (economy) with coupon code: EMCNCHF23
