Need advice on 9800pro cooler

Ok so I am fed up with the loud heatsink/fan in my ati brand 9800pro right now, I am also frustrated running it at stock speeds. So i decided that I want to get a new heatsink for my video card. I want something silent, that overclocks well and looks good. I have kinda narrowed it down to 3 choices, but am confused about some things. Do most of you oc your memory clock speed without ram cooling, and if not do u get ramsinks and are they effective?
That leads to my 3 choices, let me list them:
Zalman 80d-hp this is a passively cooled dual heatpipe cooler, optional mountable fan(zalman says 9800pro requires, is that true?)(comes with ramsinks that fit in it).

Zalman Zm80c-hp basically the same thing as the 80d but only has one pipe, comes with no ram heatsinks(no possibiliy to put any) and optional fan mount.

Any arctic cooler silencers(are there any differences between versions? cheaper, no ram cooling

So to sum it up, i need to know if i need the sinks to be effective in vga memory clock speed overclocking, do i need the optional fan with the zalman for a 9800pro(hopefully one of u has had experience), and are there differences in the versions of arctic cooling silencers.
 
I gotta agree, I have no experience with the other 2, but the silencer has been great. I have easily achieved decent overclocks on my 9800 pro. Cheap and works well...enough said.
 
well i went out and bought one of those raved about ati silencers, do you guys have the new version of the older vga cooler ones, i got the new one and i was wondering if there are major differences in the cooling, noise and such, also i have a r350 core that does not have the temp monitoring, so i was wondering wut speeds did u guys oc to wit the ati silencer? thanks
 
I got the AC Classic VGA Silencer Rev3 - I picked this over the ATI Silencer 1 because:

I was going for quieter, not higher o/c - the classic has a switch for fan speed 1200/2400rpm
The o/c limit was the memory, so a vga cooler won't improve my o/c
It was cheaper

wow thats disturbing, which version did u use to fry? anyways i got the ati silencer 1, was that a bad choice compared the the classic ac vga version?

I put an Arctic Cooling Silencer Rev 3 on a Made by ATI 9800 pro 128mb on the r350 core. The silencer didn't have a dimple on the metal, directions didn't mention anything, it overheated even when underclocked for the 20min I ran it and was dead by the time I found the problem. Apparently you have to take the shim off on some of the brands because it is higher than the gpu. Arctic Cooling wouldn't answer my emails complaining about this obvious lack of testing, my warrenty was shot, and I was out a card.
 
ooh, i got the ati silencer 1 for the exact same card as u, geez its going to be bad because our card does not come with a built in temperature monitor, geez im gettin alittle antsy.
