Need advice for new camera

I'm not looking for a full blown SLR, but just a nice camera with point a shoot with manual options.

I did some research and found the nice Canon powershot sx100 IS. Is that a good camera?

Found a deal online, comes with a starter kit, case, tripod, lens cleaner, and screen protector for $249. http://shop.thenewconnection.com/vi-71683________Canon-PowerShot-SX100-.html

Is that a good deal? Suggestions? My budget is $200-$300. Just want the best I can get for that. I want point and shoot with manual options. Quality pictures is priority.
