ok.. i want to OC more.. but i fucking hate opening up the side of my case and pulling out the fucking cmos jumper, and putting it on another side, and then doing the same thing again. so i want to take some wire and put it into a speaker connector (the cmos beep speaker) and wire it up to a switch to all i have to do it flip that switch to clear the cmos.

what i want it a 3 position switch, i dont really care what it looks like, although, the smaller the better, as i would like to mount it next to the front usb ports, in a firewire hole

anyone know what these are called, and anywhere to get them online...

hmm, i think im just going to use a dual 2 position setup

now... i can hide them in my usb bay area.. how can i go about preventing people from messing with them... and what are the effects of pulling the jumper off while the PC is on? and god forbid, it being put into clear and saved at the same time...

one switch and a button.

switch the switch to off, and press the button enable clear... that sounds safer...
 
Assuming that removing the jumper is bad when the MB is powered...

Wire a relay that's powered from the board such that the center connector is connected to the save CMOS pin when there is power to the board, and wired to the center of your SPDT switch when there is no power. That way when there is power to the relay the switch is effectively disabled and the CMOS saved connection is maintained no matter what position the switch is in. The only bad situation would be if someone played with the switch and left it in the CMOS clear position then shut down the power, in which case the CMOS would be cleared, but at least they couldn't switch it while it was running.

Now, if it is not bad to remove the jumper, then use the relay to cut the connection from your switch to the clear CMOS pin when the MB is powered, or use a second switch somewhere else.

You can also try turn it on and off ti'll it post...keep pressing the delete button.....never once i had to to clear the cmos from my mobo....always used the same method and mobo just recovers itself twice the effort of on and off switch or unplug the power cable from the psu :D ..

yeah, i htought about those, but i dont want a huge ass red thing sticking out... i want to mount it (them) in the firewire portholes of my front usb area, which is hidden behind a little door on the bottom
