I have a Corsair HX620 that works great and has a quiet fan, but has horrible coil whine. Can someone recommend a modular replacement that wont have any coil whine at all?

My CX430 does the same thing, wish I had a temp PSU to RMA it, my HTPC would get kicked out of a movie theater it's so damn loud and whiny.

I've heard a lot of people with the same complaint about the line from Corsair. They've said that they'll get one back from RMA and it'll have the same problem.

It's really random luck.

I've never even heard of them before...

It's HEC's retail brand... not that relevant though, it's a solid unit with solid performance.. and you can't do better at 70$, you'll need to add ~50$ to get a comparable 700W unit :)

I just purchased this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817121080 for my new build and while its not cheap, it's 80 plus platinum, can easily supply 650 watts even though it is only rated at 550, and has not one time had the fan turn on since I have had it up and running in the past week. The fan supposedly only comes on at a certain temp, and since my psu is segregated, it has never hit that temp. That equals silence in my book.

If I were buying today I'd likely grab this:

GREAT deal as well and the reviews are all cheering this PSU:
