Peeps, I need a power supply recommendation please for my new workstation/part time folder. Specifics:

OC'd Core i7 920
4 x GTX 275
2 x Hard Drives
1 x SSD
Modular Preferred

Well, I'm not up on brands, but with a load like that, hit atlaast 1000 watts from a good name, especially if you plan to OC

You could probly squeak by on a GREAT 850 as that's pretty much my rig (dual 295's) but your CPU would be pushing it really hard

900 or higher for your load.

Corsair makes one heck of a PSU..... so never hurts to look at those.
 
THe Enermax 1050 did well on the [H[ review. I would imagine the 1250 is in the same vein. They just recently did a review on the Corsair TX950. That would most likely make the cut with 72A total on the 12v rail. It's not modular but with 4x 275s your going to be using damn near every cable that it has. You'll just have a few fan and SATA power cables to stash somewhere.

Yeah, the 1250W did awesome in an OklahomaWolf review for JonnyGuru.com. I read the Corsair TX950 review here but would probably go for an HX1000 if I went the Corsair route.
 
The TX950 is arguably a better PSU than the HX1000. I'd probably favour the TX unless you really want something modular.

I like my HX1000, but that other PSU seems to be a pretty good value.

also I know BlueFox has a 1000k PC Power and Cooling he would sell you for a good price.
Not modular, but with that kind of a setup you will prob be using every cable anyhow.
 
Thanks guys. Although the price point on that TX950 is awesome, I think I dead set on wanting a modular supply. This is going in a custom case Mountain Mods case where nothing will be mounted in a standard spot and I will be doing some custom wiring. Modular connectors will be much easier to with while not voiding the warranty on the PSU.

@nitro - Thanks. Be sure to check out your spotlight interview I posted a few days ago. I think it has been bumped down to page two or three by now.
 
I have the Enermax Revolution85+ 1050W which powered an i7 and three GTX 295s with no issues. I've been extremely happy with it. I did have to buy an extension for the ATX12V cable. The Enermax 1250W is probably good too.

I've been less impressed with Corsair compared to Seasonic and now Enermax, but I own all three brands. Seasonic unfortunately doesn't make any 1000W+ models.

edit: plus the Enermax looks sexy
 
Tobit - Not sure I can make an educated suggestion on how much power that would require (i've never stuffed that many GPUs in one machine!) but I can inject one other comment. I've had a Corsair HX520 and HX620 (both modular PSUs) DC'ing everyday for more than a year now. Both of them are still rock solid and neither of them put out hardly any heat. Not sure if that will help your decision or not. Good luck with your decision. :)
 
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Today I ended up ordering a Silverstone Strider ST1000-P along with a short cable kit. This will best allow me to easily re-sleeve and come up with the best lengths in this custom case while still retaining a somewhat proper set of stock cables in case I ever have to send it in for warranty replacement.
