Need a Power Supply

Look into the Corsair series PSUs. The HX520 is a great PSU if you need modular cables, but any of their offerings will suffice.

Order of preference, best to worst -- look around for prices.

Corsair 520HX
Corsair 550VX
Seasonic M12 500
Corsair 450VX
Antec TruePower Trio 650
Antec Earthwatts 500

You should be able to get away with $65 or so, AR. Maybe a little lower on the Earthwatts.

If you're willing to pay 75, then take a look at the corsair 550vx which is currently being sold at buy.com for a reasonable price of $83. Less with googlecheckout or coupon.

well the Antec NEO HE 550 is being sold to me for 49.99 flat i cant afford an 80 dollar psu i just need somthing good to run my currenct settings

but if i have to go that high what can a guy do

Never say I need the cheapest PSU I can get. That's a good way to end up with cheap (fried) components. One of the lower wattage Corsair units would suffice.

...why are you bumping? The question has been answered, you just didn't like the answer. It's not going to change.

Honestly, for a P4... Go with that neopower 550w.

You'll barely draw over 120w, and Antec has great warranty service.

Link is broken, /but/.. if you're recommending the OCZ GameXStream or PowerXStream series of PSUs, please stop. They're based on FSP's Epsilon platform and may produce out-of-spec ripple on the 12v rails under load. They are not very good PSUs, and there are almost always better options in the same price range.

There is no PowerXstream...........there is a ProXStream but that is a very good 3Y unit.

Would you please let us know how did you figure that?

Corsair's customer service is better than Seasonic's, but Seasonic makes great supplies. Corsair HX line is built by Seasonic, so they're the ideal, and the 520HX is plenty for the system in question and most modern systems, should the OP rebuild some time soon. That puts it in first place, considering.

The VX line is built by CWT -- not quite as good quality, but still very solid, and again better customer service through Corsair.

Then there's the Seasonic M12, as it's obviously Seasonic builds, but you have to deal with Seasonic customer service, which isn't as good.

The 450VX is plenty for the OP's current build but could be outclassed by a high end rebuild, so it's not as highly ranked as the Seasonic M12 500.

The Antecs are last because Antec tends to order builds with lower quality capacitors and such. The TruePower Trio line is solid, however, and it's dirt cheap for the amount of power you're getting. It's also a completely different supply from the TruePower and TP2, which is a very good thing, because they were horrible.

The Antec Earthwatts line is another Seasonic build, but I believe they ask Seasonic to use lower quality capacitors to save on cost and it's lower rated than the TP Trio 650 which sells for about the same amount of money, so it's dead last.

There's the reasoning. I had a number of TruePower and TruePower 2.0 supplies die on me, so my opinion is pretty strongly swayed against Antec, but not without reason. I like their cases, but I've found that pretty much everything else (which they contract out anyway) tends to be low quality and unreliable, from PSUs to fans.
