Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
There is currently a similar thread in the cool cases forum.
I am going to build a case out of 3/4 MDF and veneer the top and paint the legs out of black. The first thing I am going to do is build the basic desk, then I will build shelves and file cabinents that will slide under. The desk will be an L, 30 inches deep, 28 inches tall. One side will be 100 (The back) inches and the other 70. There will not be a 90 degree corner, but rather a 30 inch span from one edge to the other. (Know what I mean?)
What kind of space do you have, and where will the desk go (corner?)
After several desks, both corner and straight, hutch or no hutch I now have a table. the top is 5'long, 2.5' deep and 5" thick - a massive butcher block. The legs are hand turned oak.
Plenty of work area, CPU and UPS underneath and to the rt. side. From your description of only one monitor, my guess is one boxen is a server or similar. Use a remote desktop type program to control it and put it on the other side of the room or in another room if you want to keep things quieter near where you are sitting.
Judging from all of the crap on it- it gets alot of use.
My brand new Office Max chair- 1 week old, really like it..
Built it specifically for all the equipment I have- 21" Sony; Lian-Li PC-70 (will have to modify the desk for my PC-76 when I'm done with it ; Scanner, crap on top, etc... Notice the Devil horns at the right- got those from a girl on New Year's- had a fun night - that shelf is my memorabilia shelf bits and peices from everywhere. Magazines and DVD's below, router on bottom.
I built it in place- it's going to be a bitch to move; but it should dis-assemble fairly easily.
I like about 5-8 degrees on the desktop- played around with it alot before the final product. I built a frame first out of 2x4's and 2x6's. Then I cut the desktop. Next, I ripped several 2x6's at varying angles for the incline and trial fitted them until I figured out what I liked. Then I used the negative cut on top of the desktop for my monitor perch- perfectly level.
After everything was assembled, I finished it out with oak trim and built the top area and shelving. I then stained it with Minwax Red Mahogony stain.
Plugs on the desktop are a must- there's also a switch for the flourecent light that's under the top shelf.
Before I added alot of crap, I had enough J-Boxes for everything to plug in cleanly- and then a couple of them go into my battery backup. Now it's a typical rat's nest- oh well.
If you build something like this- don't forget the light under the desk- really helps.
I've got my XM Boom-box on top- it rocks. Any more details- just ask.
Thats a heck of a desk jen, mines 4 legs and a top , looks pretty good though, and i only paid 20 bucks or so. Couple hours to cut measure and sand ends, couple hours to apply stain and let it dry.
Since i dont use all that fancy stuff at home, no reason to go all out just for a monitor and tower.
Mine's not a given computer desk, per se. I use an Ikea Goliat which is a real nice size, given the fact that I'm tall and take up a lot of room. Perfect sizing for my crappy CRT, modem, router, speakers, alarm clock, and a crapload of books and homework during a normal school day. Have to love college...
