Hello
I've got a wireless network running on a Belkin N1 wireless router (ver. 1xxx). I got the router when it first came out, roughly 2 years ago. I run 3 wireless PCs from it, two on the same floor, and one downstairs, in a fairly large home. Recently I've been having strange issues with the router, and have been thinking about replacing it.
I picked up a Linksys WRT600N, their new Dual-band router. I read decent things about it on smallnetbuilder.com. I had a helluva time with this router. I got it to work, but the wireless range was way less that the Belkin N1. In a big house, thats a problem. I took it back after about a week.
I've heard good things about D-Link wireless routers. The D-Link DIR-655 seems like a fairly stable router, however I believe it is based on the same Atheros chip that my old Belkin N1 has.
The D-Link DGL-4500 is the newer, more expensive model, with Dual band.
Which do you think would work better for me? Is there another brand I should be considering?
If I get the DGL-4500, I will want to get a 5ghz Wireless-N USB adapter (out of PCI slots). From what I see, D-Link does not make one of these. Can anyone recommend a USB "dual-band" adapter that is proven to work at 5Ghz Wireless-N with the DGL-4500? And can I simultaneously run a PC with a 5Ghz card, and two PCs with 2.4Ghz cards?
Thanks
