Hey guys

Just built a new rig and while playing a game today the computer just shut off out of absolutely nowhere. Turned it back on and it was working fine till I noticed a high pitch squeal. Few minutes later and I noticed it was from the power supply. It's a pc power and cooling 1000watt I bought as a refurb about 6 months ago. I don't want to use a PSU that is squealing like that but I do need my pc tomorrow, so I'm limited to brick and mortar stores in manhattan, which is pretty much only best buy. I found this:
http://m.bestbuy.com/m/e/product/detail.jsp?skuId=9358303&pid=1218090912061&catId=&ev=prodView

Any opinions on it? I am clueless about PSU's and bow down to your knowledge.

System:
I7 930@4000
6 gigs ram
2 internal hdd and 1 dvdrw
3 140 mm fans
H50 CPU cooler
Gtx260 gpu

Think the above would be able to handle 2 gtx460 in the future?

Thanks again!

no tx750 will not handle 2 gtx460 according to corsair. they reccomend the tx850 minimum if doing any kind of o'clocking.are you sure you killed the pcp+c,those are mean psu.

The GTX 460 takes up less power than a GTX 275, and I had two of those bad boys on a TX750. Never pushed beyond 550W input according to my UPS (not Kill-a-Watt)...so I was probably using about 500W of the 750W maximum for that PSU. Granted to don't know what kind of power an OC'ed i7 is going to need but the TX750 can handle an i7 and 2 GTX 275's at stock settings.

Anytime I power on the system the PSU makes a very loud whine. Not really sure what else it could be.

I'll get the biggest corsair BB has I guess. Was hoping the 750 would be enough.

A single GTX460 needs about 160W under normal load, at least according to Xbitlabs. Two cards will amount to double that, and with 750W you've got wattage to spare.

That 750w is enough for two gtx 480's so you will be fine with two gtx 460's. People really overestimate wattage.....

i'm going by what corsair reccomends and what purchaser's reviews on newegg are saying.seen a few that said tx750 wasn't cutting it on gtx460 sli.

No it's not. 1000W PSU would be recommended for 480 SLI.
For 460 SLI 850W should be enough assuming he actually wants to overclock his stuff.

If you like the TX750, go for it. It provides much more power than enough for handling your computer. Even a quality 650W would be enough.

Another high quality 750W PSUs are the following ones:

ANTEC TRUEPOWER NEW 750W (by Seasonic)
CORSAIR HX750 750W (by CWT)
Enermax MODU87+ 700W
SEASONIC M12D 750W
SEASONIC X-750 750W
THERMALTAKE Toughpower XT 775W (by CWT)
XFX Black Edition 750W (by Seasonic)
SILVERSTONE Strider Plus (ST75F-P) 750W (by Enhance Electronics)
...

You can find some useful information and qualified reviews of these and another PSUs in the PSU Review Database from RealHardTechX: http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page541.htm

A corsair tx750 will run 460 sli easy. I have run gtx 275 sli with a oc on everything, i7 860 in sig, with a corsair hx 750. No noise or strain on psu at all. 460 is easier on your system by at least 40 watts a piece. If it wont power your system, I'll eat it. Go buy the tx750.
