As title says..I can't afford any expensive antecs though so please some good alternatives I don't believe a PSU has to be all that expensive to be good. My current one is a cheapo Jeantech 400W wont allow me to go very far beyond 2250MHz on my Barton 2500+(XP).

I recommend Antec, either the 430 or 480 models. Reasonably priced and top notch performance.

So Antec is only PSU to buy for [H]ers? but they cost so much here..like twice the price you pay at newegg.

and also PC Power and Cooling PSUs are very good. Built in 3.3V for SATA.

Antec PSUs are generally in the price range of all the other "acceptable" PSUs, so if you can't afford an Antec, I suggest you just wait, save your pennies, and change that :) You already skimped on your PSU once, why skimp again? You get what you pay for!

PC Power aren't sold in any shops here, guess your right though I had originally intended this PSU to run a Duron 700MHz not a power-hungry 2.5GHz :D

What do you guys think about Zalman 400W, is it any good?
And is Antec TruePower 380 W enough?

The Zalman got best in test on nordichardware.com and it's not quite as expensive as the antec so I think i'll go with that unless someone has any dire warnings to give or even better cost/perf PSU to recommend?

Hmm on second thought I think i'll go with Levicom VP500S.BL it has pre-modded plexi, slick neon and blue fans all that and 500 W for decent price.:)

do not go with that psu.....PLEASE

you cant skimp on a psu.

Fortron sounds EXACTLY like what you want. Antec performance, Quality name, great price. Also look into sparkle psu's. never get a psu that is not one if these brands

It's own league

Pc Power and Cooling

1st tier

Antec, Enermax, Zalman, Fortron

2nd tier

Sparkle, Thermaltake

don't buy anything else (i may be forgetting a few, feel free to chime in
0.

that is an excellent psu...future proof fir a while too. look at my rig...i have that psu and it powers everything i got without a hitch...quiet too. That is my reccomendation.

fortron 530W

relatviely cheap ($67) and performs wonderfully (12.05, 5.05, 3.33) also has easily adjustable pots if you open it up.
