Have a workstation that my old 9800gt is dying and I need to replace it ASAP.

I dont game or do anything really GPU intensive any more.

I have a Sabertooth x58 w/ i7-950 @4ghz
Driving 3x 1680x1050 monitors.

What is a good card these days?

If you don't game then a GT520 or HD6450 will be an adequate replacement for the 9800GT. Be aware that you can only run two monitors per NVidia GPU, and on AMD the 3rd monitor needs to be DP or use an active adapter.

One exception: Assuming the monitors have DVI/HDMI input, you can drive all 3 off a single Radeon 5670 Flex ($85AR) without needing an active adapter.
