My westinghouse L2410nm POS died. So I need a another display. But have some non-typical uses for it. This is for my gf so she uses it as a HDTV for netflix/dvds and a pc with here nettop so it needs to be able to have composite inputs.

the solutions I can think of are to find a monitor that has imputs like the westing house one does.

things hooked up to it

Wii via cmposite (but could but a component cable if no displays have composite)
Xbox 360 via HDMI
nettop via HDMI

Is the best option getting a normal LCD tv. She doesn't want anything big since its on her desk, so under 32".

I was thinking something at 720p but under 28". does this exist?

edit: I did find some cheaper tvs on walmart.com for under $250. 26" and such 720p that have hdmi, vga, component and composite. Is this my best option?

Is there a device that can take multiple inputs and output them via HDMI. Not a receiver, just a switcher with HDMI and component/composite?

You are going to lose a lot of resolution though for the PC use part, 1920x1200 to 1280x720 is pretty big drop. Personally I'd stick with a smaller screen with higher resolution, but I wouldn't know what your actual PC use vs. video/tv use ratio is.

computer use? Its not for me its for my gf.

zero gaming. Except Wii and 360.

lots of netflix through pc. No M$ gold membership.

school type stuff, M word, powerpoint. reading pdfs once in a while.

I set her network up so she can stream dvd rips to her 360. Her nettop cant handle any HD video anyways. We tried a 720p blurau rip and it froze every 15 seconds. Thats why I am thinking a 720p tv. I could get her a HDTV instead of a monitor this time but not pay the money for a 1080p tv when she has nor real use for it.

If I can find a cheap 1080p monitor that has the needed inputs, or a cheap 1080p tv that is small enough to make it affordable I'll go for those.

Other wise I'd like to stay in the $2xxish range.

What I meant is would she mind losing all that vertical res when doing school type stuff (vertically oriented) for the trade off in bigger size for entertainment? 720 for me anyways would be pretty cramped for that type of stuff.

I do not know of any 1080p capable resolution TVs or monitors with tv inputs at the given price in regards to that question.

Well, the main concern is replacing the previous monitor. Right now she has none.

I dont know if she would even notice that the resolution is lower. She might say, the stuff is bigger now. Most stuff she watches tops out at 480. And she only plays a few games on the 360 right now. Fable II and Viva Pinata. Wii is well, that can play on anything.

What does a desktop look like on a native 720p display? Does it look the same as it does on a 1080p display but just with the resolution set at 720?
